Obituary est un groupe originaire de la Floride et est l’un des groupes fondateurs du death Metal. Le groupe sort son premier album, Slowly We Rot, en 1989. Pour l’album suivant, Allen West est remplacé à la guitare par James Murphy et Daniel Tucker par Frank Watkins à la basse. Allen West reprend sa place pour l’album suivant, The End Complete. La composition du groupe ne changera plus pour les albums suivants : World Demise en 1994 et Back from the Dead en 1997.
